How to Install Skate Mods with ReSkate

Installing a skate mod with ReSkate takes under a minute: pick one in the launcher, let it download, then switch it on in game. This guide also covers manual installs, profiles and troubleshooting.

Method 1: install skate mods from the launcher

  1. Open ReSkateLauncher.exe and go to the MODS page.
  2. Browse the Thunderstore ReSkate community and install a mod. A modpack brings its dependencies along.
  3. Press PLAY. In game, press Insert, open the MODS tab and enable or disable mods.

Method 2: drag and drop a mod

Downloaded a mod from elsewhere? Drag its .zip or folder onto the launcher window. You can also copy the mod folder into Mods\<mod name>\ beside Skate.exe; order is stored in Mods\mods.json.

Use profiles to switch mod sets

On the MODS page, PROFILES saves which mods are on, and in what order, under a name. Loading a profile switches to it and downloads any missing mods; each mod stays installed once. COPY CODE and SAVE FILE share a profile, while IMPORT CODE and IMPORT FILE bring one in. The codes and .r2z files are compatible with r2modman.

What if a skate mod does not load?

  • ReSkate checks mods against the supported game build. Outdated mods are left out with a message naming them.
  • Mods that cannot be merged cleanly are skipped, and the rest still load.
  • Check logs\ReSkate.log and look for a newer version of the mod.

Install skate mods safely

Mods change game data. Install only mods from authors you trust, and never run unknown DLL, EXE or script files from a download.

Custom Lua scripts (scripts/Custom) are switched off in the current ReSkate version. Read is ReSkate safe? for more.

Frequently asked questions

Mods live in the Mods folder beside Skate.exe, in one folder per mod, ordered by Mods\mods.json. The launcher manages this for you.
